Pairing

In honor of my own Dutch ancestral heritage I bring you today’s pairing. What occasion you ask? Why Koninginnedag or Queensday, a national holiday in the Netherlands.

Cablanca is a Dutch-made goat’s milk cheese. This cheese has a delicate, citrusy-tanginess and firm but creamy texture wrapped in a beautiful snow-white color. It’s paired with a very simple yet wonderful German Hefeweizen. I’m not a huge fan of Wheat Ale’s in general, but this one hits home. It’s very subtle on all the funky flavors like clove and banana, yet finishes with a great refreshing carbonated feel. It compliments the cheese so much as the flavors in the beer do not over power and the carbonation tends to cut the lingering fattiness of this wonderfully unique goat’s milk cheese.

Suggest Pairing: Schweinsbräu Weisse (Bavarian Hefeweizen from Riedenburger Brauhaus)
