Camembert with Great Divide Hoss

cheese and beer pairing camembert

True French Camembert is somewhat similar to Brie, yet has a stronger more tangy flavor. This pasteurized (because it’s imported) version made from cow’s milk is creamy and luxurious. It tastes of salty-butter and grass with a subtle undertone of mushrooms. Almost as good as the cheese is the great little wooden box that it comes in.

Great Divide Hoss Rye Lager is an Oktoberfest style beer with a slight hint of Rye. These two combined match up very well while not over-powering one another. Slight fruity under tones of this fine lager sit well with this tender cheese, while the crisp dry finish really cuts the lingering fattiness of the cheese and finishes with a mouth-brushing hint of rye. Absolutely decadent!
