Cheese and Beer Pairing
If you’re new to cheese and beer pairing then this one is for you. Mimolette is a French cheese which is famous for it’s subtlety. It’s not the most flavorful. I didn’t say it was bad, in fact it’s quite good, I find it to be one of the most fascinating cheese to look at. Quite honestly the rind looks like a cantaloupe or possibly even the moon, while the inside meat is a bright and beautiful burnt orange!? It’s very similar to cheddar and has a nice creamy tangy-ness.
5 AM Saint is an amber ale from the incredible craft brewer in Scotland; BrewDog. While this particular beer is considered to be “middle-of-the-road” by some it’s only because Amber Ale is somewhat of “generic” style. Not quite hoppy enough to be a pale ale and not dark enough to be a brown ale, amber ale sort becomes the red-headed step child of beer. This specific amber has a special place in my heart because of my fondness of BrewDog and their bold marketing and unique approach to the European beer market.
Putting this cheese and beer together is a great starting point for introducing yourself or someone you love (or dislike) to artisanal cheese, craft beer and general cheese and beer pairing. I dare you to try this and write a comment below. Gezond!
